WHY CROSSFIT SÖRNÄINEN?

We are a family owned business with many years of experience focusing our energy on coaching small groups of people with various or no fitness backgrounds.

We believe the values needed for a fit and healthy life are:

ACCEPTANCE - everybody is welcome as they are. And everybody embraces themselves and others as they are. That's the starting point.

JOY - having fun in a workout is essential to come back again for more. Celebrating every new achievement and level is also important.

SCIENCE - we use methods and tools that have proven to work. Like really.

We've been around since the hype of CrossFit truly hit the town, but we've made an effort to keep the sense of a small and friendly box, even though we've grown through the years. We are well known for our cosy and close-knit atmosphere, where we enjoy to know who we train with.

SMALL GROUPS WITH AN INDIVIDUAL TOUCH

 

Have you tried group training where your personal coach knows your name and background, as well as the results you've reached? Welcome to CrossFit Sörnäinen! We take pride in capping our classes at 10 people per workout so that everybody has a chance to get proper coaching and receive attention to their special needs. Say you have a really sore knee or shoulder, we adapt your workout to your needs. This is an advantage very few gym's can provide.

EVERY MEMBER CHEERS YOUR NEW LEVELS!

Have you had enough of working out without a training buddy or a coach? Have you had enough of group training where you never even get to know the name of your training neighbour? CrossFit stands for high intensity workouts that are properly planned by our programmers; BUT what makes it work even more stronger for you is the support of the community around you. Our box is filled with good people creating friendships through the sweat and effort we shed together.

CLEAR GRAPH TRACKING YOUR FITNESS & PERSONAL MEETING

We want to know each of our athletes, your personal goals and eventual 'goats', so that we can fill in the gaps and get ahead faster. To achieve this, we use personal screenings: a check-up on your flexibility and numbers paired up with corrective exercises to avoid injury and get you results faster. Re-test is done every three months.

EXPERIENCED AND PASSIONATE COACHES

 

All of our coaches LOVE what we do and you can see it in our smiles and our dedication. We are nerds when it comes to ankle position in a low-bar-back squat, and how to periodize the next mezo-cycle. But we're also there because we simply love the people in our little gym. If you want to co-create with us, we'll get miracles done! There are few things we love more than seeing one of our athletes get their first pull-up or muscle-up, or simply finding their joy of working out at our box.

WHAT IS THE LEVEL METHOD

We're all looking to maximise health. Live a larger life. Be more alive.

The Level Method is a system that will show you exactly where you stand in fitness. It gives you the knowledge, and us coaches the tools, to help you achieve your goals faster than ever before. The simplest way is to think of martial arts - white to black to red belt.

The MAP (“Method of Athletic Progression”) is a detailed yet easy-to-understand chart of athletic tests that measure and reward greater achievements in physical capacity.  You'll see a colourful board consisting of Levels moving left to right (separated by vertical lines), and Categories from top to bottom (separated by horizontal lines). Each category has an upper number (MALE Standard) and a lower number (FEMALE Standard) and there are 32 Levels in each category.

Safety is a key factor in longevity. Health and Fitness is a long-term endeavor and to make progress you need to stay in the game. And although injuries can occur anytime and anywhere in life, training smartly and methodically

Each  milestone you achieve is important to keeping you motivated and progressing. We also like to have fun and build a strong support system. Use all the resources and tools available to you, plug yourself into the community,  and you will succeed. 

WHAT IS CROSSFIT?

Do I need to be in shape to start CrossFit?

No. CrossFit is the program that will get you in shape. No matter what your current fitness level is, you can start CrossFit. As you become fitter, workouts will become more challenging. Every workout is designed to help you succeed, improve fitness and move you toward your goals. People Who Started CrossFit.

WORLD CLASS FITNESS IN 100 WORDS

Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar.  Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat.

Practice and train major lifts: Deadlift, clean, squat, presses, clean and jerk, and snatch.  Similarly master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds.  Bike, run, swim, row etc, hard and fast.

Five or six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow.  Routine is the enemy.  Keep workouts short and intense.

Regularly learn and play new sports.
